By Frank O'Collins (January 2007)

The children of ignorance laugh at my name.
For they look at my land, my stories, my myths.
I have become the well of mystics,
The dance of dreams,
The lyric of the embellishers.

I have become the mantle for family crests,
The derision of more noble peerage,
As liars and thieves,
As unreliable as a broken watch.

  Most famous my stubborn madness,
Of war and murder most foul,
Of traditions of fables,
Of stories of fancy,
By authors more known for a desperate hand, than a noble brow.

  Dust have I become,
The fog of history and memory,
That all may claim, but none may grasp.
I stand alone, forgotten.
Gladly praised, not for most ancient power, but wild speculation.
Stand on my bones, you do not see.
For dust they have become.

I have become that which is less spoken,
My stones, my trees laid to waste.
Yet these never were my soul,
Nor the hills, nor the valleys,
Nor the breeze, nor the mists.

My soul has always been blood,
That still flows most strongly through all my children.
Across the world they are asleep.
Thousands unaware of who or what they are.
They are my soul.

Awaken then my sons and daughters.
For you are the first.
You are the first priests and kings.
You are the first of faith.
You are the gods of the most ancients.

You are the ones who united to survive.
Before there was civilization.
You are the ones who traveled as heroes,
to find new land and food for your own.
You are the ones who showed stone age man his soul.
You are the sangreal,
You are Ebla,
You are Hyksos,
You are Ugarit,
You are Giza,
You are Salisbury,
You are the Shining Ones,
You are the one true voice,
You are the song of hope,
You are the harp of Judea,
You are the lion of Israel,
You are the leaders and have always been.

  Awaken my children,
Awaken to your destiny.
The world calls your name.
Save us from ourselves oh Ireland.
Awaken and unite this broken heart.
I call you to be one.
I am Ireland. I have awoken.
