| Summary |
Written by the same chief editor as The Great Book of Lecan, The Book of Ballymote, The Book of Magauran, The Book of Fermoy and the Book of Hy Many (Ádhamh Ó Cuirnín), with assistant scribes. It follows the similar formula for family geneology manuscripts produced by Ó Cuirnín and his writers with modifications in favour of the Ó Ceallaigh (O'Kelly) clan. |
| Context |
Produced for commercial consideration by Ádhamh Ó Cuirnín and his scribes using a standard formula based around the Book of Leinster and additional texts they created. Wholly unreliable as evidence clearly shows genealogies were created purely for the benefit of the client family. His name later changed to Adam Cusin to hide his real identity and the fact this Book was merely one of many created the same way. |

While the descendents of the clann O'Kelly were keen to change the name of Adam ( Ádhamh) Ó Cuirnín as the author of their family history to Adam Cusin, there can be absolutely no doubt, the O'Kelly are recipients of the same formula produced around the same period for more than half a dozen clanns willing to pay. |
